Minor Upgrades Strengthen the Big Defense: The Electrical and Instrumentation Operations Department Completes the Inverter Upgrade and Retrofit
Recently, the Electrical and Instrumentation Operations Department of Tianjin Dagou Chemical Co., Ltd. completed the upgrade and retrofit of more than 40 variable-frequency drives. Following the upgrade, maintenance personnel can now directly access critical data—such as device frequency, current, and fault codes—from outside the distribution cabinet, without opening its doors. This has significantly improved the efficiency of routine inspections and markedly reduced the time required for fault diagnosis.
During recent routine inspections, technicians identified that some variable-frequency drives, due to their long service life, face challenges such as difficulties in procuring spare parts and inconvenient daily maintenance procedures. Additionally, the cooling systems of certain units fall short of the requirements for refined operational management. In response to these issues, electrical maintenance personnel have developed a retrofit plan. Carry out a series of construction tasks in an orderly manner, including cabinet door modifications, circuit verification, wire alignment and connection, and communication commissioning. During the work period, the technical personnel strictly adhered to electrical safety procedures, performing wire verification item by item and commissioning at each point. and The replacement of the entire variable-frequency drive unit and its associated cabinet was completed in parallel, with the integrated cooling system restored to ensure reliable signal transmission and precise functional response. The entire construction process was meticulously organized and tightly controlled, resulting in a significant improvement in the operational reliability of the equipment after the upgrade.
Grounded in on-site realities and focused on operational‑maintenance challenges, the Electrical and Instrumentation Operations Department has leveraged “minor upgrades” to achieve a dual improvement in the intrinsic safety and operational efficiency of electrical equipment. Moving forward, the department will continue to deepen its efforts in refined, standardized, and intelligent equipment management, routinely advancing inspections, corrective measures, and technological upgrades. Through concrete, robust initiatives, it will fortify the safety‑operation safeguard and ensure the long‑term, stable, and efficient operation of all facilities.
