The Electrical and Instrumentation Operations Department has completed the upgrade and retrofit of motor protectors.
Recently, the Electrical and Instrumentation Operations Department of Tianjin Dagou Chemical Co., Ltd. took advantage of the plant’s maintenance window to complete the upgrade and retrofit of 69 motor protectors in the distribution room. Following loaded trial runs, motor operating parameters were found to be normal, and all new equipment has now been put into service. After the upgrade, motor protection accuracy and response speed have been significantly improved; protective functions for overload, stall, phase loss, and three-phase imbalance are now fully functional and reliable. In addition, real-time monitoring of operational data and fault‑prevention alerts have been implemented, further enhancing the efficiency of electrical and instrumentation operations and strengthening the plant’s ability to maintain stable, long‑term operation.
This renovation project involves numerous critical pieces of equipment, a tight schedule, and heavy workloads. The Electrical and Instrumentation Operations Department proactively coordinated efforts, developed a detailed construction plan and a dedicated timeline, and completed the configuration of new protector parameters and preliminary functional testing prior to commencement. Simultaneously, they refined the internal wiring layout within the cabinets and maintained close communication with process teams, ensuring that “installation begins as soon as the cabinet is in place, and the system is ready for use immediately upon completion.” During execution, all personnel rigorously adhered to standardized procedures, implementing tailored control measures for key pumps and compressors to effectively shorten the overall duration of the work. In terms of safety, workers strictly followed established safety protocols—including power shutdown, voltage verification, and lockout/tagout—and enforced a dual‑confirmation operating procedure, thereby guaranteeing a safe and orderly renovation. After four days of intensive effort, all 69 protectors were successfully upgraded, with newly configured parameters precisely calibrated and protection functions reliably operational.
This upgrade and renovation not only addressed critical gaps in electrical protection, completely eliminating the safety hazards posed by outdated equipment, but also enhanced the intelligence and precision of motor protection, further bolstering the operational reliability of the distribution room’s electrical system and providing a solid foundation for the facility’s safe, stable, long‑term, and optimal operation. Moving forward, the Electrical and Instrumentation Operations Department will continue to deepen full‑lifecycle management of equipment, strengthening the electrical safety barrier with higher standards and more concrete measures, thereby laying a robust safety foundation and injecting sustained momentum into the company’s high‑quality development.
