The ABS Operations Department has fully launched a special inspection and rectification campaign to prevent freezing of equipment and pipelines ahead of winter.

ABS Operations Department Fully launch preparations before winter arrives. Special Inspection and Rectification Work for Freeze Prevention of Equipment Piping Systems

Recently, the ABS Operations Department of Tianjin Dagou Chemical Co., Ltd. has launched a comprehensive pre-winter inspection and rectification campaign to prevent freezing of equipment and pipelines. The initiative focuses on critical areas such as the production piping network, trace‑heating systems, and equipment insulation, conducting item‑by‑item checks and addressing identified issues at each location to ensure the stable and continuous operation of production units.

Since the beginning of October, fluctuating temperatures—alternating between cold and warm—have persisted, placing significant stress on the operation of outdoor pipelines and equipment. In response to these weather changes and the approaching winter production season, each section within the ABS Operations Department has conducted a comprehensive, grid‑style inspection of pipeline tracing systems, equipment insulation, and protective metal sheathing, based on the actual operating conditions of these systems. The team promptly identified potential hazards and replaced aging components with new tracing pipes that offer superior frost resistance, corrosion protection, and stable performance, as well as entirely new galvanized protective metal sheathing. At the same time, critical points such as valves, steam traps, and instrument measurement locations were systematically inspected, with detailed records meticulously maintained. Implement a closed-loop management system of “investigation, rectification, and re-inspection.” At present, all relevant process units have completed comprehensive, grid‑style inspections of critical areas. A batch of aging heat‑trace pipelines and protective metal sheathing have been replaced, and pressure testing as well as trial heating operations have been carried out at the corresponding locations. Following these upgrades, the heat‑trace system now delivers more uniform and stable heating, equipment insulation and sealing performance has improved markedly, and key operating points are running with greater reliability, thereby effectively enhancing the unit’s ability to prevent freezing during the winter season.

Going forward, the ABS Operations Department will institutionalize winter “eight‑prevention” measures, continuously refine on-site control protocols, strengthen dynamic monitoring of key areas and critical processes, and implement targeted risk mitigation to ensure that workplace safety remains stable and improves throughout the winter season.
