Dagou Chemical Conducts Specialized Safety Training on “Five Understandings, Five Proficiencies, and Five Capabilities”

Recently, Tianjin Dagou Chemical Co., Ltd. conducted a specialized safety training program titled “Five Understandings, Five Proficiencies, and Five Capabilities,” with over 100 participants, including mid-level managers, section supervisors, technicians, shift leaders, and full-time safety officers from the company’s production and support departments.

This training session specially invited Hao Jun, Vice Chairman of the China Chemical Safety Association and a safety expert in the chemical and hazardous‑materials industry, to systematically present the “Five Understandings, Five Abilities, and Five Competencies” job‑competency framework, drawing on typical accidents and near‑miss incidents in the sector. Under the “Five Understandings,” he covered process technology, hazard characteristics, equipment principles, regulatory standards, and organizational requirements, emphasizing proactive risk identification. Under the “Five Abilities,” he focused on high‑risk operations such as hot work, confined space entry, and maintenance, detailing standardized procedures, pre‑job safety analyses (JSA), hazard identification, response to abnormal operating conditions, and the proper use of personal protective equipment. Finally, under the “Five Competencies,” he clarified the competency criteria for adhering to process controls, safety protocols, and workplace discipline, as well as the ability to prevent others from violating regulations and to resist unlawful instructions.
This training, by elucidating principles through case studies and clarifying responsibilities with concrete examples, has further broadened the safety‑management perspective of managers at all levels and frontline key personnel, deepened their understanding of the critical importance of building job‑specific competencies, and provided guidance for addressing gaps in on‑the‑job safety capabilities and strengthening the foundation of team‑level safety management. Taking this training as an opportunity, Dagou Chemical will consistently integrate the safety philosophy of “every moment, every place, every person, every asset” throughout the entire production process, continue to advance the development of “five understandings, five skills, and five capabilities” in job roles, conduct regular hands‑on practice and skill‑building exercises, and reinforce source‑level risk prevention, end‑to‑end operational control, and emergency response preparedness—thereby ensuring high‑level safety to support the company’s transformation, restructuring, and new‑quality growth.
